Unique Design & Development, Inc. (UDD, Inc.) opened its doors in August 1987. Prior to starting operations of UDD, Inc., Joseph Piciucco worked at three major architectural firms from 1977 through 1987 - King & King Architects, Hueber Hares & Glavin, and Design Collective Architects. As a Project Manager at these firms, he was involved in a wide range of projects highlighted by the $25 million Hill Medical Center, Syracuse NY, Veterans Medical Health facilities in Bath NY, a Fire Station in the Radisson Complex, Baldwinsville NY, Super Regional Shopping Mall, Holyoke, MA, four (4) schools in Syracuse and Sherburne NY, and (15) Journey’s End Hotels in the United States.

After 10 years’ experience in this industry, Joe noticed a void in relationships between Architects and Contractors. He felt there was a great need to develop a professional General Construction company that could communicate efficiently with Architects, as well as Owners. He thus opened a full service General Construction/Construction Management firm that could develop specialties in retail, restaurants, medical and housing.

Throughout the years Unique Design & Development Inc. has built a reputation for delivering a quality product. Specialists in restaurant Construction, Unique Development Companies Inc has completed all types of restaurant concepts. As per our resume we have completed multiple locations for Fast food, Casual Dining or High end specialty restaurants.

Unique is a diverse contractor as displayed in our project lists. We have completed multiple locations for retail, shopping centers, manufacturing & office space. It has been our unique approach to construction that we have been fortunate to always have repeat customers. All of Unique’s relationships have been built on honesty and trust.

Our financial division is the responsibility of Mary Ann D’Alessio, Controller, who has over twenty years’ experience specializing in cash management and construction accounting. She works closely with our outside auditors on all matters pertaining to operations, including tax returns. She is also responsible for the day-to-day operations of our office.

Heading our Construction in the field with over 25 years experience is David McConnell. David makes sure quality and schedules are met for all projects. Unique has been very successful in both coordinating and constructing a variety of different types of projects.
